Vintage Romance Wallpaper

Hi everyone, Lynn here posting a new Feb wallpaper for you from Amanda's new kit Vintage Romance.

I was quick to say yes when Amanda asked me to do this as I love, love, love making wallpapers, and always make new ones for myself anyway.
Before I send you off to get your wallpaper, I would love to show you the gorgeous kit it was made from.

You can purchase it HERE.   And be sure to check in on Amanda's calendar challenge in the forums too, there is always a pretty freebie there if you play.
So, here is your wallpaper preview.
It was so pretty it really didn't need much added to that gorgeous background paper. I love keeping it simple so I can have whatever I normally have on my desktop and it all works. I use a little program called Rainlender, it's free, and is an interactive calendar, so always the right date.

Mom and Daughter Happy Box Tutorial

Emily and I made this fun little box for those times when we are feeling sad or lonely. All we need to do is open the box for an instant pick-me-up. The memories of making this together will bring a smile to our faces too, so it serves double-duty!

Final product

First thing we did was found a shoe box that was in good condition and cut scrapbooking paper to fit the outside of the box.

Next, be sure to use a good amount of tacky glue, playing close attention to the edges and corners.

We glued the papers on in strips. I think it works better than wrapping the paper around the box like a gift, but that's just me.

We went for a Hawaiian Motif since that would make us happy on even the coldest and dreariest Utah winter days.

We didn't like the blue of the box showing through, so we added ribbon around the edges.

Emily used some old scrabble pieces to decorate, along with some flowers. I mean, really, can you ever have enough flowers?!

Finally, we filled the box with things that we thought would make the other happy. Some things we put in were some favorite little candies, photos, a book about kisses, sparkly nail polish, love notes for each other, a craft, a little happy meal toy, a drawing of she and I, pretty stones and marbles, more flowers, and other misc. things that she won't let me see!

I'm kind of looking forward to a sad day so I can open and explore!

If you make one of these, I'd love to see your finished product!

Digitals Calendar Challenge Posted

Hi Everyone!

Are you ready for 2013? I think I am! I have a few resolutions that I've made for myself this year--personally and professionally. You'll see some changes to my blog and facebook in the coming months that I hope you'll enjoy! As for my personal life, I'm resolved to continue losing weight in 2013--since August 2012, I've lost 20 pounds. I'm hoping to reach my goal weight by my birthday in May. I've had to start physical therapy for knee arthritis and hip flexor problems so hopefully soon I'll be able to add in some gym time. The struggle will be finding a time and committing to it. How do you make the commitment to get to the gym? Do you go solo or work out with a friend? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

If staying (or getting) organized is one of your new year resolutions, I hope I can help you in that this year! I'll be returning as the hostess of the Digitals Calendar Challenge in 2013 and am looking forward to making a monthly calendar! To get us started, I've got a mini kit with which to make a great calendar for the month of January. To make it even easier, I've included in the mini kit a calendar quick page. Just add a background paper and photo and you're ready to stay organized! If you prefer designing your own calendar, I have all the elements in the mini kit for you to do that as well!

The mini kit coordinates with one of my favorite collections--Flea Market Chic. It is an elegant collection and for the month of January, you can get the whole bundle for only $4.50. That's less than the price of a full-sized kit! Hurry in before the sale is over!

Postcards Home

I've always been fascinated by the story of my great-uncle Carl, who served in France in WW I. Throughout his time of duty he regularly sent postcards home to his little sister, my grandmother, who was 8-10 years old during the war years. My grandmother gave me many of these postcards and they are fun to look at and to read.

The postcard in this layout reads "Dear Sister, Here is a view of Barnet it is about a mile from the Hosp. I have been there two times it is only ten miles from London. I was going out this afternoon, but it is raining. Carl" (dated 20 October 1918)

I created this layout for the Lasting Legacy challenge at Digitals, using Amanda's new Celebrate America! bundle.
