Postcards Home

I've always been fascinated by the story of my great-uncle Carl, who served in France in WW I. Throughout his time of duty he regularly sent postcards home to his little sister, my grandmother, who was 8-10 years old during the war years. My grandmother gave me many of these postcards and they are fun to look at and to read.

The postcard in this layout reads "Dear Sister, Here is a view of Barnet it is about a mile from the Hosp. I have been there two times it is only ten miles from London. I was going out this afternoon, but it is raining. Carl" (dated 20 October 1918)

I created this layout for the Lasting Legacy challenge at Digitals, using Amanda's new Celebrate America! bundle.

CT Layout using Christmas Tea

My daughter has always loved sock monkeys, and last year she got sock monkey slippers for Christmas - one of her favorite gifts. I used Amanda's new kit "Christmas Tea" to scrap this. The red solid paper is from an accompanying freebie which was in one of the recent Digitals newsletters.

And here is the second page made with Millcreek Canyon. This shows my son on the beach, sitting in front of a driftwood fort. His favorite thing to do at the beach is build large driftwood structures, luckily I got him to sit still long enough for this photo!
